Farm Gate Farm Shop

A small family farm shop in North Yorkshire

The client came to us with a homemade website for their farm shop which they wanted to upgrade to a full professional site. It needed to be high-end but still personal with a playfulness rather than fully corporate. The client wanted a searchable, filterable site with updates that could be made as well as a product flow that would allow customers to move easily throughout the site. Of course, the e-commerce site needed to have payment gateways that were secure and allowed returning customers to create a profile that they could log in to. Finally, the client requested that their old website be redirected to deliver customers to their new site automatically so that previous marketing would not be wasted. We were only too happy to get our teeth into this one.

Our Web Design for the Client

The team at Oxford Web Builders created an e-commerce site that looks great and gives customers of the Farm Gate Farm Shop an easy and enjoyable shopping experience. The various elements of the store are accessible on the homepage and the interactive menu shows the latest news. The client is contactable through various forms and can take people’s details at a newsletter sign up point. The shop flow is easy and customers can search for products or key phrases with the site returning the most relevant items first.

Payments are handled through the site direct to the client’s account making life easy for their business with invoices and receipts emailed to their customers, thereby decreasing admin time for the business.

At the time of launching, the client wanted a Christmas page with online order forms and a special Christmas click and collect option at checkout.

The Shopping Experience

The shop element had to lead clients through categories to their products. We created a simple online shopping experience. The filterable side menu allows customers to access categories and products easily if that if what they want whilst the shop allows them to scroll through as they look for items they may like. On top of all of this, the search bar on each page allows the customers to look in depth for what they want.

Christmas order forms were created so that customers can put in their orders in line with what the shop can provide and it is all done online with the orders going directly to the seller.

The Payment, Delivery, and Collection Dynamic Costings

The client wanted their customers to be able to choose a collection date (only Wednesdays to Sundays) for their customers ease. The cost of this would be free. Alongside this they stipulated a series of local postcodes that would be free delivery on orders above £20 from the e-commerce store. All other nationwide deliveries would be £7.50 and would be limited to UK mainland purchases. The Oxford Web Builders web design team created this at the checkout page so that clients could get the experience they were expecting and could see the delivery costs up front before paying.
